Bluuwav and Ben Provencial Create Chill Late-Night Tracks for Electronic Audience

Bluuwav’s collaboration with LA-based artist Ben Provencial is just in this niche where club music and home listening meet. The song gradually builds itself from melodic house elements where tone is given more significance than force. Warm vocal elements are laid on top of clean synths, and there is no rush to this rhythm either. This is one track where headphones and a dimmed room with more time on your hands both sound equally appealing.
The producer behind Bluuwav, Cameron Taylor, has a calm touch honed from his time working on a variety of electronic music, from deep pop tracks to darker D&B-influenced projects. This technical expertise seeps through in his production, where every note gets a chance to shine, from the humming bassline through to the sparse elements of the production designed for max emotional lift. Those familiar with Shallou or Med K will be in a familiar zone. There’s a cinematic feel to the track, a kind of atmospheric sound that might be suited to episodes of a show like Love Island or perhaps late episodes of Pretty Little Liars, where music plays a subtle role in guiding an episode’s tone. This is hardly surprising given Taylor’s credits in these areas, but it’s not a track that’s been commissioned. But instead, it’s all very much personal and orchestrated, a nod to the fact that electronic music can be emotive without being shout-y. This is a perfect listen for anyone who enjoys thoughtful dance albums or movies which forgo plot points in favor of lingering shots and warm lighting.
